Local Methodist Missions: There are a variety of local Methodist Missions that Bemiss UMC supports and encourages involvement in.  Here are just a few listed, as well as non-UMC missions that directly impact our communities.  You are welcome to visit their websites and find out more about how you can help in this important work!

Camp Tygart:  A non-profit organization supported and operated by the United Methodist Church. All Christian denominations are welcome to reserve and use the facilities.  The land was given by the late Jeff D. Tygart of Nashville as a center for South Central District United Methodist adults, youth, and children to enjoy God’s great outdoors. Camp Tygart is also the home to the South Georgia Walk to Emmaus & Chrysalis programs, as well as Camp Arrow.

Magnolia Manor:  Magnolia Manor is a ministry of the United Methodist Church and serves older adults of all faiths throughout South Georgia. This not-for-profit Georgia Corporation was chartered in 1959. Governed by a Board of Trustees, Magnolia Manor provides a loving Christian environment and a caring staff, ensuring the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of residents and their families. Services include a wide array of independent retirement living options, assisted living, skilled nursing care, rehabilitative therapy and specialized memory care.

The Methodist Home:  In response to Christ and the Church, the mission of the Methodist Home is to be a model agency that restores childhoods, strengthens families, and cultivates a people-building organization.

Vashti Center:  The mission of The Vashti Center is to provide children, youth, and families with resources necessary to grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Our goal is to change destructive behavior patterns and establish new behaviors and coping skills, to promote increased self-esteem, to establish more appropriate perceptions of self and others, and to enjoy life to the fullest.

VSU Wesley Center:  A campus ministry at Valdosta State University, the Wesley Center strives to show God’s love to people and to build up Christian leaders.
