Rev. Jerry Hudson
Rev. Jerry Hudson began his first year at Bemiss UMC in June, 2021. He is a lifelong Georgia resident and currently serves as a licensed local pastor in the United Methodist Church. He is married to Sandy Hudson, and they have one son, Parker.
Pastor Jerry describes himself as a disciple of Jesus Christ, husband, dad, recovering sinner, and lifelong introvert. His greatest passions are discipleship and spiritual formation. He defines discipleship as following Christ’s great commission (Matt. 28:16-20) and greatest commandments (Mark 12:29-31), particularly through the lens and teachings of Jesus found in the the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7). Spiritual formation, Pastor Jerry says, is grounded in the dozens (if not hundreds) of the historic spiritual disciplines. His personal practices emphasize the disciplines of studying the scriptures, silence & solitude, prayer, contemplative prayer, lectio divina, fasting, community (fellowship), worship, and receiving Holy Communion.
In regards to his overall theological ethos, Pastor Jerry describes himself as a contemplative, charismatic, evangelical Christian.
